Vernier Depth Gauges

Precision measuring tools called vernier depth gauges are used to determine a workpiece's hole, slot, or recess depth with accuracy. In the machining, metalworking, woodworking, and many other industries where accurate depth measurements are needed, they are a vital instrument. Typically, a movable depth probe is attached to one end of a graded bar or rod that serves as a vernier depth gauge. The principal depth measurement in millimeters or inches is provided by the main scale on the graded bar. Sliding parallel to the primary scale, the vernier scale is situated on the depth probe.
For better accuracy and wear resistance, the Mitutoyo Vernier depth gauge has hardened, micro-lapped measurement faces and a hardened, micro-lapped base. For protection and easy reading, the depth gauge is made of hardened stainless steel with a satin chrome finish. If necessary, wider extension bases (up to 450mm range versions) are available. Models are available in both metric and imperial measurements. For precise measurements, certain models incorporate a tiny adjustment screw.
